I'm selling my loved 2003 Marin Palisades Trail. Why you ask? This is not a bike for a man with any regard for his personal safety. This is a bike for those who feel that a staircase defending at a 30 degree angle is a perfectly acceptable way of starting a long hard trail ride. This bike is tough and build]t to take anything you throw at it. Anyone thinking that they need a bike that will get them from point A-B is not using this finely tuned machine to it's fullest potential and should look elsewhere. Perhaps under the advertisements marked "cruiser" or "girl" bikes. All of the components of this monster are setup to enable one to take on even the most challenging single track that one can come across. Though as you might realize this all depends on the ability of the rider. As such, be warned that the front suspension is not for those with weak upper bodies, this is a bike that truly requires technical skills to ride. It can get pretty scetchy when you're out running a Grizzly bear on the trail and have to decent a rock shoot down the side of the mountain. But not worry, you have plenty of control with your Avid BB7 Disk break in the front and Shimano V-Break in the back, the brand new 2.2" Continental Mountain King Tires and rock solid SunRims, you'll descend that coal shoot smoother than when you put your arm around your first girlfriend. Though that relationship didn't last, I can assure you that your relationship with this beast will. She's sturdy, reliable and able to shift on the fly even during a tough climb. The SLX front derailleur is half a season old and works perfectly, the one in the back is crisp and shifts like it was new. The chain is was replaced in September of 2011 and is cleaned and lubricated on a regular basis. This bike may have seen it's share of abuse (i.e. fun) but it has been nurtured and cared for like any classic bike should be. Though, with sadness, I must pass on this weapon of river valley carnage to a younger, shorter (Between 5'9" and 6'2"), stronger man who has the heart to take on what this bike can dish out. If you be brave, and pure of intention I beseech you to send myself an email or communicate using your voice through a modern voice communication device. Behold! The parts listing!
