2014 Fox 34 Factory 29er Talas 140mm FIT

These are Fox Factory 34 forks for 29er wheels, currently with 140mm of travel. These particular forks are from an ex-pro bike and have been used at EWS and were obviously very well maintained throughout there use there. Since I've had them I've stuck to the service intervals to the letter, using Strava to check their riding hours.

Here are three key features about the forks:

1) Talas. Fox's Talas feature means that the forks have two different travel modes that can be easily be adjusted whilst riding. For this particular 34 it is between 140mm and 120mm. I like this feature because it allows my bike, with its 29er wheels, to change from a trail bike to an xc bike at the flick of a switch. This is perfect for flatter sections or for climbing, as it also steepens the head and seat tube angle in its lower setting.

2) Kashima Coated Factory Spec. This is the special low friction gold coating that Fox apply to their forks. This is only applied to Factory Forks such as these, the name given to Fox's top line forks. When these forks were new they would have cost over £900. The forks have been upgraded at the last Mojo service with lower friction seals.

3) CTD Adjust. CTD stands for Climb, Trail, Descend. This is Fox's three position compression dampening that gives you three levels of firmness in the forks at each Talas height. This is the more advanced CTD adjust version which means that in the mid 'trail' there is a further 3 positions of low speed compression, allowing you to customise the firmness.

The fork is in the standard 15x100 thru-axle spacing and comes with a Fox/Shimano thru-axle. The steerer measurement is just over 170mm. The fork also comes with the brake cable guide. A little bit of cable rub is displayed. The steerer tube has obviously been cut, although not hugely. The length can be viewed in the photos.
