Price is firm. Pick-up is in Brooklin. If the ad is up, the bike is still available. No need to contact me asking “Is this still available?”

Reason for selling: I’m building myself up a full carbon beast for this winter. Priced to sell. Pick this up before the fall/winter rush.

For sale is a Motobecane Night Train fat bike. Size Medium / 17.5”. Good for riders 5’ 8” to 6’ tall. The bike is virtually new.

If you are unfamiliar with Motobecane, it is a brand distributed by BikesDirect. They are a direct-to-consumer retailer that skips the local bike store. They offer the entire range from basic bikes all the way up to high performance models. They offer incredible value through using “catalogue” frames from the big manufacturers while cutting out the distributors/bike stores.

The Motobecane Night Train is no different. The frame/fork is made by Kinesis (the top Taiwanese aluminum frame manufacturer). Kinesis even makes the 9:Zero:7 aluminum frames . This has a latest 197x12 thru axle rear end. No quick-releases to mess with.

http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/fat-bikes/fat-bikes-nighttrain-fatbike.html (2016 version, specs are different than the 2014 version I’m selling. But frame/fork are identical). Current version is now $1,400 USD (~$1,850 CAD + tax = $2,100…and you have to pickup across the border).

This Motobecane Night Train frame is currently shared by the Felt Double D and Apollo Stout. (Both of which cost a lot more and have much lower specs). Key highlights of this Night Train are: SRAM Guide RS brakes, SRAM X9 Derailleur, Sram X7 Shifters, Weinmann Factory Drilled Rims, Novatec Hubs, Thru-Axle front and rear.

I am the original owner and it is about 18 months old. It has a total of ~150km on the bike. However, many parts are brand new with zero kilometres. I bought this bike for winter/snow riding. It has never seen dirt. With this past winter’s mildeness, I barely rode it. There very few if any scratches or scuffs on the frame/fork. You will see a very tiny ding on the top tube from transport. It is virtually impossible to see if I didn’t point it out, but full disclosure.

When I first got this bike, I tore it down to the frame so I could inspect everything and re-build it from the ground up. I also added all of my upgrades at that time, so many parts are brand new. See below:

Upgrades:
- 26 x 2.6 DH tubes and purssple duct-tape rim strips. The most important upgrade as it lowered total rotational weight by about 3 pounds!
- Fizik Gobi Manganese Saddle

Brand new parts (zero kilometres):
- Bar
- Stem
- Post
- Front Derailleur (X7)
- Front Shifter/cable/housing (X7)
- Crankset, bottom bracket and Chainrings (no pedals ever installed) (Samox)
- Seat post collar

Parts with about 100km’s on them:
- Cassette (PG1030)
- Fork (Alloy)
- Wheels & Tires (Weinmann DHL80 factory drilled + Novatec Hubs)

Parts with full 150km’s on them:
- Frame
- Headset (FSA)
- Chain (KMC SL)
- Rear Derailleur (X9)
- Brakes/Rotors (Guide RS + Centreline rotors)
