Right I m needing to tighten my head angle either 0.5 or 1 degrees in order to turn a bit quicker and make my bike faster....its just too slack with large frame and long forks....cant find the cups online so need some help finding them. I ve looked on silverfish but no joy. Am I going to notice just 0.5 degrees or do you think go for 1 degrees?

I tried out 1 deg. steeper over the winter. Was better on some of the local less DH stuff (FoD) but went back to standard 63 for racing and proper tracks.

I'm about 5'9 & ride a 2010 medium so don't struggle getting weight over the front end even in the slacker setting..

Just dropyour fork crowns a little and see if that helps before you spend any cash would be my advice

I mananged to drop them 15mm but cant drop them anymore with the zero stem as they are almost touching the bars. Not sure if I put riser bars on that I d be able to drop them a bit more...depending on where they start to rise if you know what I mean?

The zero stem may be a big factor, lots of folk switch that out to a 40 or 50mm to get a bit of weight on the front wheel. Some debate over whether it works as well for the summum as other bikes in their range in this thread IIRC

I love the zero stem!...but obviously is restricting me tightening the front end up with the crowns.

Just had a thought, I could get a bigger spacers that my stem bolts go through to raise the bars and lower my forks a bit more...if you get them bigger?...if not could stack some washers I guess

Hi, thinking about getting a summum.
either a large 2012 or medium 2013

from what i can see from the geometry charts the 2012/2011 medium is very small in the top tube.
It seems to come up the same as my small iron horse sunday!

I am looking for a longer bike for more stability jumping and at high speed.
I sat on what i thought was a medium 2012 summum and it seemed very similar to my small Sunday.. albet with a longer wheelbase and the option to slack it out.

I'm 5'10 and just wondering if anyone else is running a large 2012 or are they happy on a medium.

cheers

hi i have had a large 2012 summum for about a week. swapped over from a m/l makulu thats about 20mm sorter (i could happily go another 20mm longer again). the summum is still on the small side of perfect and i'm 6'1". so i would go large if i were you

also the 3013 and newer models are 25mm longer to account for the short 10mm stem but i would probably put a longer stem around 35mm to keep the reach to the bars from getting any shorter. just so you know the reach on my L 2012 is 429mm and it would be close to 454mm on the L 2013/14 frame.

O+

At 5'10" I'd go medium. You could get away with a large though.

My 2011 medium Summum feels bang on and i'm 5' 9'', perfect balance of high speed stability while feeling light and flicky in the tight stuff.
All depends on your riding style and the style of trails you ride, i think you could probably get away with either size then tailor it with the geometry kit

I m 5 11" and large is perfect...its just too slack for most places I ride and turns like a brass band....still havent been anywhere that stocks angle cups since I bought it in September. Large is great on the jumps and ploughing through rocks but shite for twists, turns, switchbacks etc....

I am 5 11" and for me, I choose the 2014 model in medium. I have been on the 2010 medium of a friend which is too short, the 2011 large one of another friend is fine. I did a couple of runs on a large 2013 aswell and might even go with the large forward geo ones still riding a 50mm stem. All depending on personal preferences I guess. The difference between the 2013 medium and a 2011/12 large is definately not noticable as the reach only differs by 2 or 3 mm.
