yeah, i am starting to go bigger with jumps and i just feel that i could not only go faster on a DS, but i could really expand my comfort zone, i feel like the only way the bike hinders me is, that i am worried about damaging it because i am hitting lots of jumps on a bike that is built for more all mountain kind of rides

From say a five foot gap to a ten foot gap, two foot drop to four foot drop, and table tops to doubles.

you'll probably be fine on a hardtail for now, when you start feeling ready for 15-20ft stuff I'd suggest a fully.

I've been riding department store bikes for the majority of my life, and now I feel I'm seriously getting into riding and would like some help finding a bike that suits me. I'm 5'11 160 lbs.

I live in southeastern Ontario and my rides usually consist of forest trails or any trail I could find. I love climbs and descends equally. Not opposed to rocks or roots, death cookies are more than welcome. Given enough courage And practice I'm also not afraid to take jumps and drops. I love every aspect of trail riding and am looking for a well rounded bike that can take as much abuse that I am courageous enough to put it through. Not looking to do strictly DH or any crazy stunts. I'm changing gears constantly so that is a must. I've always liked norco bikes, being somewhat of a brave beginner I would be looking at second hand, or even new, capping my spending around 2500.

Just wondering if I'm more suited for an all-mountain, free ride or xc? Also looking for suggestions on frame sizes.

Also, I was looking at 29ers and was wondering if I should go that route? When hopping large logs/rocks I always worry about clearance.

Hope this isn't information overload and look forward to help Smile

Most likely all-mountain if you like doing some drops and what not. Good for descends but also can climb up hills a lot better than a dh or fr bike can.

I would recommend a Giant reign 1 if you can find one used or that cheaptup Range three if you can extend your buget a bit if you really want a Norco.

Well right now I'm riding out of the 'shwa so I'm doing forests around the grandview conservation are and any forests weaving in and out of town. Nothing spectacular but a ride is a ride.

yeah and honestly unless you're taking five foot drops 140 is plenty.

Stop asking what things are. But they are things like large loose rocks on a trail.
