They are virtually the same thing as a Specialized Big Hit except they have dual 26" wheels and the part spec on them is incredible for what you pay. My friend has the SGS Pro and it came with a Boxxer Race, Hayes HFX 9, E13 SRS, Swinger 4-way, and other quality parts and it was like $2000 new. The frame was made by Specialized too. Only problem is that Sport Check sells them here so I would do what my friend did and order the bike pick it up still in the box and go to a reputable bike shop to assemble it. Other than that, the SGS were excellent bikes. Here is a picture of my friend's SGS Pro.
Why not? The frame was made by Specialized with some different features like a 1.5 headtube and a rear linkage that could accept a 26" rear wheel. I think they are better than the pre 26" Big Hit models and they were a lot better spec'd for the money you paid than a Specialized Big Hit.
this is my SGS world cup DH. powder coated black, it is such an ill bike, the only probolem i had was my rear shock fallin apart. besides that it is def worth the money.
I use to have an sgs but i didn't really like mine that much. Of course thats probably because it was too small for me, the rear spring was too soft, and the fork busted on me. Other wise the part spec was not bad at all. Here's a pic of it before i sold it.
