you could at least put some half decent pedals on it!!

I know, I just started with foot retention and it's hard to get used to, so decided clips and straps, then clipless next level up.

Ex-MTB'er so I was riding on flats for 5 years.

At last, but still 3 months to wait til it's built...? You've owned so many frames! Just stick with it for at least a month

What's the finishing like on it, BB area all OK?

lol Don't worry, this one's a keeper. The finish is fine, and no cracks, the BB area is fine too, I'm impressed with it to say the least.

Start practicing track stands now. Such a nice build with flats will loose points.

I do want clips, it's just the money side of things. I'll ride the caged pedals, then switch to clipless asap.

Still not that convinced that clipless is so much better than toe clips, i'm sure spd-sl's are on the bike but so impractical off the bike, got my DZR shoes set up now with some egg beaters on my road bike, my foot moves all over the place, i'm riding slower because i can't put the power down.

Who cares what they're like off the bike. If that's what you're considering then your missing the point of SPD-SLs and the like entirely.

Clipless pedals are so much more efficient. On climbs if your pushing down muscles feel the burn just switch to pushing forward and pulling back and up, totally different group of muscles that are fresh.

The toe retainer brackets kind of do the same thing but its really old technology. Although if i had a really nice vintage roadie with these it wouldn't look too bad.

Carbon frame and plastic toe clips is a bit wrong. But clipless pedals and appropriate shoes are going to cost quite a bit, so if the bike will be built sooner, go with the clips.

That's exactly why I'm doing it lol. Later on I'll get clipless though. Frame weighs around 1015 grams alone from calculations.
