If it's the external bb, your going to be pretty hard pushed to remove it, tried using a spanner? It worked for me before but it was loose. Your LBS might do it for free or a little charge, or you could you by a remover,
hope this helps,

Get the tool. Its made for a reason. Park Tool makes a lot of specific tools for those kind of parts. I learned the hard way trying to not use the 'special' tool for a 'special' park. If you mess it up it can lead to damaging your frame or the BB and costing a lot of tears and money. Do it the right way once.

Yeah definitely buy the tool. It's not expensive at all... It's like a spanner shaped handle, with a big round circle at one end that has loads of little notches that fit the notches around the circumference of the BB external cup. I think it's 16 notches or something.

I spent the whole Sunday doing this exact thing... I miscalculated the shell width and how many spacers to use, so I had to install the cups and then remove them like 3 or 4 times until I was satisfied with the result.

If you didn't put any grease in there before you threaded the cups in, then you might not have a hope in hell of getting them out....Maybe, maybe not, depends. Also, apart from the Parktool spanner-like tool, there's another tool which has a massive shell that fits right over the external cup, and a huge long lever to go with it. I'm not sure who makes this tool, but I've seen it loads of Youtube.

Here's a little tip.... Before you place the tool over the BB cup, cover the cup with some cling-film folded over a few times, to form a thick sheet. This will protect the paintwork on the BB cup from being scratched/damaged etc. I learned the hard way too, with a brand new set of Acros red anodized cups, and completely shredded the paint off them so they ended up looking like they'd already been thrashed on some downhill course for a whole season, when in actual fact they were brand new.

The tool doesn't cost much - http://www.danscomp.com/products-TOOLS/811410/Shimano_Tl-FC32_BB_Tool_(DXR).html
