Do you guys ever have any weird crack/ click like noises coming from the pivots when the shock is compressed? Jus wondering... Thanks
Yes, after a year of riding. Some bearings went bad after some rainy rides (those close to the yoke). Replaced them, problem solved.

It's probably just your seat.

I used to i cleaned and greased the BB and I did all the bearings and it went away,

It's starting to creak again so I cleaned and the greased my BB and it seems to have gone away.
Try that it's quick easy and free.
Also for bearings order them from a bearing wholesaler don't go to a shop I got all mine for just over $30 if I recall maybe $35 with taxes couple local shops were in the $160 range plus tax

Haha yes!

I couldn't figure it out all my linkage bolts were tight, then I grabbed my wheel and it moved... Flipping axle was loose!

Check all the bolts, and make sure your seat isn't touching when you compress. If the height is too low it contacts. Can remove the upper shock bolt to check clearance in the stand

I had my seat contact the tire when I first got mine and ate shit otb on a big ol step up.

Yea, I diagnosed it, its in the 'S-Link" as its a three piece link, the plates make a bit of noise, nothing too serious at all though; bit of grease on the plates and locktight the bolts... all goodBig Grin

hey Guys i have a new Specialised Demo 8 2015
has anyone had a problem with the Ohlins shock?
I have scratches on the inside of the shock and scratches on the outside of the dampener?
it just seems to be in one concentrated area of the dampener, not all round. its almost like the spring has bent in the way and rubbed, if thats possible? But the gap between the spring and the shock is small surely even if something got caught it would have fell out after a compression or two.

the bike has only been for 1 days riding at Fort William. pretty annoyed this has happened after 1 day.
I've seen pictures of used Ohlins shocks and the shocks on other peoples bikes and no one apart from me seems to have these scratches.

"We immediately noticed marks on the body of the Ohlins shock after only a few runs on the Demo. This was likely caused by the spring rubbing, although it was not noticeable while riding. The damage was just cosmetic but still slightly annoying."

Let's see a photo of the whole shock, so I can see how much preload. Also, what size/weight is the spring ?

Comforting to see an article describing similar problems... All be it still rather annoying a top line shock does this yet none of my cheaper Fox Shoxs haven't done this.
.
The weight is 343lbs? I think. My weight is 72kg
The preload is Factory set. Or what came in the box set.
This is the only picture I have at the moment of the whole shock as I'm away from the bike just now

pre-load does look rather a lot by eye.....

I would loosen it all the way off and pre-load it to a maximum of 2 turns.

Out of curiosity, do you know if the demo 2016-2017 model can stuff a beefy 2.5 butcher in the rear without rubbing the frame?

I can fit a finger between both sides of the chainstay with a 2.3 slaughter on the back so I imagine it would be fine.
