Summer holidays are on, the weathers rubbish and I am bored already. So I am looking for something to do....
I'm a 4th year Graphic Design student and I want to create an online magazine for my portfolio. I am looking for written/photography pieces that I can use to create ether a one off online publication or series. They can cover all aspects of mountain biking from epic adventures to product reviews and rider interviews.
I only have a few conditions, work must be of high quality as I want this to look good for me and for you guys and to be interesting so people actually read it. All contributors will of course get full credit (name and web address etc) for their work.
Hoping some people get on board as it could be a fun project. Looking for work to be submitted for the beginning of August.
Ok so here is a rough break down of topics and stuff that could be covered:
• Articles reflecting on the biking lifestyle/trends/movements/culture/changes etcetc... • Interesting stories from races, days out on the trails. • Intresting adventures on holidays or recommendations/review type stuff. • Interviews with people (racers, organisers, up coming riders etcetc). • Behind scenes articles or coverage of film making. • Articles about trail spots or "scenes".
• Product reviews. • Race coverage (however may be tricky dependent on release date as would become old (but if written in the right style could be more timeless).
• Short and snappy caption or paragraph along side a photo. (Was thinking It would actually be pretty cool to have it very image based. Almost like a photography showcase with a tiny bit of background info, (who, what, why and when sort of stuff, just a short but sweet paragraph)).
Id be happy to provide info on some video shoots I do, and seeing as I work in 2Pure (distys for crank bros, ibis, pedros, clif, lizard skins etc) then that may be of use to you too? It would be good to get my name out there in terms of video work!

What kind of things do you think you could contribute?
If I am honest, I have not a clue, but I suppose:
Detailed info on the new and released but as of yet not available products from the manufacturers we distribute. Story/write up/feature like you see in Dirt of their many trips or days down the 1.04 from when I go filming (I have a 3-4 day shoot coming up soon) Any other things we can think of in between. Oh yeah geeky guru
I could do a couple of write ups if you want? Mostly thinking about track/trail centre reviews/stories, aslong as i can get hold of a decent camera (shouldnt be hard) to show photos to go along with them.
When would it have to be done by? what sort of tone would you be looking for in the write ups?
couldnt really contribute in terms of product review, as i buy mostly 2nd hand, and dont really buy a lot of stuff..
I could contribute some sort of shop-related material but you'd have to give me an idea. The days are mostly spent fixing punctures and smoking cigarettes

Im pretty open in terms of style of writing and tone. No deadline really, jut need to get a relative amount of stuff in say the next month or so it has a decent amount of articles.
On another note also looking for photography as a filler/showcase section.
I could do a feature on good Edinburgh bike shops, and I am sure both I am thinking of would LOVE the limelight
If you can find an interesting take on it in terms of something they do or interview etc than that would be cool.
In terms of writing style, as long as its interesting we are all good, look at dirt and the other mpora publications. For me the articles dont have to be long as they can be picture heavy.
