My operator is 40.8lb (18kg) size large frame. Has all the bling part I run 888 up front wich I know is a little heavy I don't get how a similar bike can be 5 pounds lighter. I've got Easton havoc wheels saint breaks have a TI rear spring on rear shock. Race face cranks (that are apparently lighter than the saints). Havoc bar and stem.

My size large weighs just a bit over 38lbs with a Boxxer World Cup, RC4 w/ steel spring, Full Saint drive train, Mavic 729's w/ Saint Hubs, Renthal bars & stem, a Minion 3C Exo front, High Roller Supertacky DH rear, both with XC tubes.

Run single ply tires, put a vivid air on the back, descendant cranks, XO derailleur and brakes, lighter wheelset (Deemax Ultimates) would make 35lbs easily attainable.

Yeah now that I think about it I could make the bike a bit lighter but I'm not going to. Not changing my fork or rear shock. Might change the wheels my rear wheel is so wobbly lol. I'm sticking with down hill tubes I can't afford to get a flat where I ride. So yeah basically the bike stays at 40.8 pounds lol awesome

That's awesome that your profile picture is the first photo from an amazing crash sequence. It's a good picture until you realize that a split second later you slammed face first into a rock.

Enjoy the Operator when you get it...it's a sweet bike.

Hey all,

this is probably a very re-hashed topic, but I have a question on sizing - but this is regarding a 2011 Operator FR (which from what I understand ain't all that different framewise, minus the chainstay shortening). I'm exactly 5'6", 150 pounds. Will a medium frameset be too large for me to flick around? It doesn't seem to run that large and I've heard stories about the size small being quite the size small...1.5" shorter is quite a large gap, even for someone like me. Plus I can always shorten the stock stem a bit if reach is an issue.

Just wanted to see what y'all think before I actually go and try it myself! Anyone of similar size own a med?

At 5'6", you're definitely a small. I'm 5'8" and the medium was a tad too big so I opted for a small and it fits me good.

Haha oh damn. So I guess I won't know what to do with the new medium FR I walked away with for a killer (it was irresistable, but no small option) deal. It doesn't feel that huge! My armspan is about 5'10" and the reach seems fine, and I'm about 157-160 lb's geared. May be a different story on the trail, but I have to say it feels pretty legit. What are your measurements? I have heard of some 5'7" folks saying they felt more comfortable on a medium than a small - guess it could depend on if you want a more stable ride versus a huck-able bike. Thank you for your input as well.

You're selling it already?

I think you will be fine on a medium - I am 6'0 and ride a large and love the fit

Ironic but unrelated to the sizing (I'm def sticking with medium whichever I'm on) - simply entertaining offers at the moment =) I just received a large, unexpected check and I'm playing with the idea of updating to the 2012 or buying an entourage outright...but those are very different bikes. I intend to wring out the 2011 a couple times first and see if I still want to sell. But for now I just have the ad up for convenience purposes.

Anyone have any experience with a Fox 36 Float 180 or similar model on the operator? Looks to lighten it up a good bunch and I'm thinking about making the purchase...found a great deal on a new 2012
