Opinions on these? Looks pretty good and I could afford them soon.

Problem is, it's a one year warranty. Also, how long would these wheels last, and how strong would they be against a pothole?

I would never consider anything smaller than 45m in carbon but thats cause im 210lbs. Theres a shot of a guy who built a 20mm chinese wheelset and at one point he had to replace the nipple on one spoke and the rim tacoed.

I've decided to be a little less weight conscious and get some alu rims now.

Aksiums are SOLID wheelsets. They're only 1700g too! I wouldn't blink twice if someone were offering them for a good price.

These Hopes are 32h each so should be strong enough. I've promised my mate that I'd buy them and they're 2 rides old and half the RRP.

The aksiums will hold up to any weight trust me. I had them on my cross bike and haven't ever had an issue. I decided to paint them and that's when things went bad because I painted then badly hahaha. My fault but the wheels themselves are solid. I'll bet they're more reliable than any 32h wheels.

But it's your choice. I prefer as light as possible but reliable.

Cheers

Yup, I've heard Aksiums are strong wheels. I can get (if I choose the DT Rims and) hope hubs with rim tape and nipples all for just over £200 and they'll be around 1500grams. £15 each wheel build from his shop too.

Well I would do the whole wheelset for £95 with tyres, up to you if the 250g or so weight saving is worth it.

It's a sticky situation as I promised to buy my mates hubs and I think it's a good deal for how used they are. I will have a think about the Aksiums, but won't promise anything so I don;t piss you off.

Which DT hoops? The lightest one they carry is 465g plus the hubs 185g f/285g r plus lets just say sapim laser spokes @32h f/r that's 273 g for 64x260mm (You may need longer depending on your lacing pattern) spokes plus the 64 nips 13g each that's 832g total wheelset weight = 2505g. I wouldn't do 32 regardless you don't need that many even if you weigh 260lbs. I would do 28f/32r. if you're over 200lbs and 24f/28r if your less.

If your friend get's pissed off because you decide not to buy something of his then I wouldn't really call that a friend. He should understand, unless you slept with his sister and he said buy my wheels or your dead Eek

Hope Pro 3 hubs: Front; 110g Rear; 261g

DT Swiss rims 32hole: 465g each

DT Swiss Revolution Stainless spokes (double butted) 283g (Any other spokes that are lighter?)

Around 716g front wheel (approx) 867g rear wheel: 1583grams (approx)

Total will be £212 all in.

Only wheels I've found are Reynolds @ 1633g for the same price on CRC.

Ah I measured based off the Pro2's. Did you include nipples? The Sapim laser spokes are lighter 2.0/1.5/2.0 double butted. That's a really good deal for it all.

Thanks S, I think so too. I will look at those nipples, but the spokes I'm getting do come with some. Most likely heavy though.
