Hi people, i have a Kona coiler, would it be up to the challenge if i put some triple clamps DH forks on it?
any suggestions if yes or no?
Just want a dh bike but at the mo cannot afford that kind of money.
Outgrown what my bike can handle now.
Cheers

hi mate don't know about the coiler as i have a coilair but I was thinking the same but instead i have just gone for a set of 180mm forks it's only 20mm less and if your bottoming out go for a stiffer spring it should be ample, but that's just my opinion....

Hiya,

They definately dont recommend putting triple clamps on your Coilair.

The front triangle isnt made for this kind of forces, a regular single crown 180mm forks would do the trick just fine!

Iyaa, ive got a coiler deelux, i think you'd be better of with a Stinky or Stab for DH, better geo for it and they take triple clamps Smile Theyre available at good prices 2nd hand too Smile

depends what coiler frame. The 07's did fine with triples. Saw people running them for years with no problem. But 07 was kind of the pinnacle for awesome coiler frames. 160 or even 180 travel on a coiler makes it a decent mini dh though.

email Kona mate give them the dimensions and they will tell you if they will be ok they gave me all my info, what's the rear and fron't travel going to be?

thanks! the rear is standard 130mm fox vanilla r with a 600lbcoil and the front has a single crown marzo. drop off single crown with 150mm. im currently using the bike as a xc/all mountain type but its a bear at 43lbs. i want to convert it into a better dh bike with 180-200mm in front, and get a new xc bike

well with a 50mm difference in the front and mate that's not good, your forks will be compressing for another 50mm while your back wheel has stopped? if i was you me personally I would strip it down fit an air rear shock and light build 1500mm forks your drop offs are fine, carbons bars etc etc you can build a desent xc bike out of that frame then go for a DH bike

ok thank you! i will be looking into that over the winter. unfortunatly, once football season, and school start, bike season ends for me. cant wait!
