It sounds like he had only removed each side and not the shaft tha goes through the middle, on mine I loosened a bolt on one side, and gently tapped with a rubber mallet, and wiggled the link to free the shaft, no offense but if your struggling at this stage then I'd advise taking the bike to a shop to replace the bearings.
I have the correct tools and still found it fiddly to put the bike back together

O+

Thanks guys, I'll be fine, done countless bearing changes before. Just never had to on this bike in 18months. Didn't realise there is an internal shat that was separate from the link. Thanks again.

Any feedback on how the 2016 275 mega compares to the one before?

Whole headset or just the bearings? In the first case you need few tools, in second just allen keys and two hands.

Older one was good, new one is incredible.

I think the spring is too soft have bottomed it out a few times, might switch for the hard spring, but apart from that no problems!

I'm on the air HLR model, loving the great small bump sensitivity, how it rides high in the travel, how linear it is on the rocks and how bottomless on big drops - only wish it had more clearance for bigger tyres (27.5x2.5)

I'm finally finished with my new bike!

Just a year ago I was on this...

...and now at the same spot
Mondraker Dune XR 2015

The Mega TR was a fun bike but the Dune is from another planet when pointing down!
I recall there was someone else here too that swapped a Nukeproof for a Dune.

I had a Dune, amazing bike! But I got bored so i've just sold the frame and got a 2016 mega 275 frame, so far I'm very happy with it.
