just wanted to get a thread going of destinations in New England. Where in Vermont would someone from CT find it worth the drive to get to? If you happen to be in Mass for the weekend, wheres a good location for an afternoon rider? General things like that. AM, XC, FR, DH, anything.

I'll start listing a few:
Highland (DH/FR)
Mt. Snow (DH)
Kingdom Trails (XC/AM)
Burke (DH/FR)
Vietnam (AM/FR)

an ulterior motive for creating this is my friend and I are planning a week long XC/AM trip in New England. We're looking for some great spots/destinations (the more remote the location the better) to do some all day (or multi day) rides. We plan on hitting Kindgdom trails and burke for a day or two. Now we need 5 more days of great singletrack

Kingdom trails are amazing, you'd be fine doing 3 days all on the kingdom trails and 1 day at Burke. I don't think Burke opens up for a few more weeks, kingdom Trails open up this weekend and it looks like rain is in the forecast. For a Mass weekend there's a lot of places. I usually stay south of Boston just for the sake of convienence for me. Wompatuck State Park in Hingham has lots of trails and trails for all abilities. There's Duxbury which is nice if you're in to flowwy hilly single track.

Ridemonkey has a good list of all lift access destinations in their dh forum

Here's a handy Google map of all of the New England Mountain Bike Association's trail listings.

It's not exactly DH/AM, but there's plenty of fun XC and singletrack in there if you poke around.

Bradbury Mountain State park in Maine has some good stuff. It's north of Portland, which is a really cool place in itself. Kingdom is hard to beat though. You could ride the World Cup course in Windham, N.Y. and that little town rocks. JG

Vermont route 100 between morrisville and warren has quite a bit to offer

Cady Falls (XC)
Cady hill, Stowe Town Loops (XC)
Adams Camp loops (XC/AM)
Perry Hill (XC/AM)
Sugarbush (DH)
Mad River Valley Trails (XC/AM)

Millstone is AWESOME too! It has 50+ miles of aggressive XC trails, much rougher/technical than Kingdom.

Pinehill is very cool too.

The is a ton of riding in VT! Best place to bike in NE for sure, great people.

I've had awesome times riding in the greater Boston Area.

-The Middlesex Fells, located mostly in Medford MA has loads of really good trails, from cruising to super technical steep sections.
-Harold Parker in Andover MA has much of the same type of stuff, lots of unmarked singletrack.
-NEMBA's Vietnam in Milford MA has good drops and steeps.

Bradbury MT State Park in Pownal ME is top of the line as well.

I found Harold Parker to be very rocky and incredibly technically difficult. It was impossible to get any decent flow going, I was doing all I could just to keep upright while essentially rockhopping up and down hills.

Was I just in a rough section of the park, or do I just need to work on my technical skills more and it'll feel flowier?

Kingdom trails, I was just there for the first time at Nembafest and the trails are unbelievable. Lots of downill mixed into climbs and flats, very flowy, and extremely clean and maintained. You could spend 3 days easily just riding the kingdom trails xc network. Then burke mountain for a day. Upper j-bar to lower is awesome. Like a 12 minute dh ride. Only 4-5 trails from the lift, but all were lots of fun. Then go to highland for 2-3 days. Best lift access park in the country. Those are really the only places on your list I would go for a trip. They by far surpass everything other location you listed.

I was up at kingdom earlier this summer and it was amazing. Highland has been a favorite for many years. Right now I want a 30-40 mile xc ride in the most remote place New england has to offer but im not having much luck finding anything of the sort

Your not going to find anything remote in new England haha. If you want long rides in the middle of nowhere go out to Utah or a place like that.

Hey guys, I am driving to the Kingdom Trails for a few days in September. In the past I have been to East Burke probably 20x and wouldn't mind a day in north western part of NH if there were good trails.

Any recommendations around there?

Highland mtb park is only 2 hours away from east burke.
