I own a Ford Fusion with a 2 inch hitch installed. The only rack I would ever consider putting my Santa Cruz Nomad on is a North Shore Rack. Hands down the best bike rack on the planet. These racks are everywhere in Vancouver, Squamish and Whistler. Family run business out of their home in North Vancouver, they do not sell in any store. Malcolm designs the racks, Alison does the sales. These racks are flawless. Check out the website www.northshoreracks.com

This will be me when I get my Beetle Big Grin

But I think if I have a roof rack with slats, then i'll turn the bike upside down and then get some ratchet straps and strap the f*cker down.

I mean let's be honest, I wont go fast enough to have the bike become unstable anyway!

At the moment I ride motorbikes so I cant carry my bike Frown
But I did see a picture of a bike with a DIY framework attached to the back which took an MTB with the front wheel off. That might also be an option for me Big Grin

I love my rack, quick and not noisy at all. yer they screw into the 4 holes on the roof. could prob get 4 racks on if you needed too. I leave it all assembled as it stays together and makes attaching/removal fast

I put my bike on the roof using a Thule rack. Keeps the mud out the car and if its raining on the way home, the bikes get a wash too. It's pretty sturdy even with the weight of a DH bike
My car with myself and a friends bike on the roof

Car does 20mpg though and nearer 16 with two bikes on the roof Smile
