Hi Guys,

I'm looking at getting myself a new bike as my Azonic DS1 is a little on the small side for me now I'm doing more XC. Ive been looking around and have picked up on the benefits of better forks etc but am not sure which bikes are worth looking at? I popped into Evans today in MK to discover they don't stock Specialized in store which was a little annoying. Anyway I'm looking at the following bikes and note sure which ones are best. As a little background info I'm 5'10 ish and about 17stone so I'm trying to make sure whatever bike i get will cope with some heavy impacts (not from jumps). Also I dont want to be constantly spending money on upgrades especially if I go to my upper budget

Bikes are
-Carrera Fury £599

-Voodoo Hoodoo £499

-Giant XTC 2 (2010) £689

-Specialized Rockhopper Comp £700

-Specialized Hardrock Sport £500

-Giant Talon 1 (2011) £589

I've looked on bike radar at the reviews and the voodoo and fury seem to get very good reviews which is why they are listed.

I'm open to other suggestions but don't be offended if I'm not too sure as I'm been fussy over the bikes looks also!Redface

Have you looked at the boardman comp ? As halfords are doing them for £649 and if you look in the buy/sell on here someone is selling a boardman pro for £500

I ended up with a a Boardman Comp in the end and tbh I love it, it does everything I need the only downside ive had is Im not sold on halfords build quality so I've rebuilt a few bits on it to help things however my BB is still noisey.
