So I just picked up at 1 1/2 steerer Transition Temple lite stem. I have an oldy Cannondale Headshok on it. Steerer is a 1 1/2 and stem is a 1 1/2! Just wont go. Any ideas?

Headshoks aren't 1.5", they're slightly larger.

So what do I do?! Where can I find a stem then?

I did not know that myself, always thought it was 1.5. It's a actually 1 9/16ths, or 1.526. Best bet I would think is to go with a C-dale stem.

I know most are going to say "NO! It would make it dangerous to ride! DON'T!", but if it's only .026 too large would it be wrong to sand it down a little to make it fit?

Do not do that!!! You have to get a headshoock/lefty specific stem for those forks. Or better yet, get new forks!

You might be able to find a stem on here or ebay or the like, but best bet is your local cannondale dealer.

It's 1.562, that's .062" too big. A fair bit, even by carpentry standards. A country mile to a machinist.
