Will a Fox DHX 5.0 fit on my 2006 Specialized Bighit 2?

anyone know if a 8.75 x 2.75 will fit on an '04 Bighit Comp? I know the 8.75 is the stock eye-to-eye but will the 2.75" coil work just as well as the stock 2.5" coil (and give me a little more travel in the process)? Thanks

on my bighit the rear shock was an 8.75 by 2.5 and i upgraded to a 8.75 by 2.75... works better then stock (bottomless)
