Hello guys,
I need your advice from all you advanced riders or everyone who would like share your setup.
The issue is following. I rode for two years a shorter buy higher FR/DH bicycle. It wasn't very comfortable for the knees, but for upper body and everything, it felt good.
Now I started this season off with Commencal DHv3. The action and performance is great. It's LONG bike, but it's low in the same time. I do not feel like at home on it tho. To my great height it feels like a large DJ bike but weights 2 times more.
I have 20mm riser bars at 800mm. I feel like I'm in attack position, but it doesn't feel very comfortable. I just tried few laps with my old bike, and it felt great compared
I ride clipped in, so my weight is +/- in middle of the bike, but so low bars tend to put too much weigh on the front.
How much will I upset handling if I bring up the bars?

Hvae you tried running narrower bars rather than raising the bar height? Narrower bars will allow you to move you upper body backward slightly (less attack position). A mate of mine runs 800mm bars but he's only 5'8" and they make hime lean way to far forward

I had shorter bars before 740mm, and I wasn't in proper attack position, and I couldn't press on berms etc properly. I'm 6'6'' so the 800mm fits me well width wise, but puts me little bit too low up front. Is there any other option then putting higher rise bars? I have two bolt style top crown, so I can't add any of those fancy spacers as on 40s or boxxers.
Any suggestions? Confused

I would love to do that, but the head angle is ridiculously slack already, and I think that in general it would set the whole geometry wrong, wouldn't it?

I have it for about 3 to 4 month now. I rode it around 2 times a week for this period, 2-5 hours each time. I mean it's not really bad, but I don't feel very comfortable. I have good elements, such as all weight on legs and none on hands, elbows out now with wider bar, knees wider apart, but still haven't got the X factor there yet.
Maybe I need more time? I switched at the same time to the SPD, maybe two variables at once is too much?
Thanks guys for input, it really is helpful! Smile

I would guess it's some thing you have to adapt to , but then again you have had it for a while
