What are people's feelings about the HxR Easyshift for DH/Park? The extra drag would be less of an issue, and the ability to shift without pedaling in corners?

I think it is stupid because it does what a gearbox does with none of the advantages of saving unsprung weight On the rear wheel. If there was somehow an internally geared bottom bracket where we could remove cassette and derralier it would be absolutely perfect to a downhill bike IMO, but unfortunately it hasn't been done for massed produced downhill bikes YET as shimano and SRAM will milk adding one gear a year until it won't work well anymore.

Fair enough, it does reduce the unsprung weight by removing/relocating the freehub but I do agree that a full gearbox would be better. I think the easyshift is just making the best of what is available currently.
