hey guys, im looking at getting a stumpy. my not so local bike shop has a 2013 evo comp 29 on for a dam good price. what im wondering is if there is any reason i should spend the little extra to go with a 2014 model over a 2013

Nope, the 2014 gets formula brakes (arguably not as powerful as the 2013's elixir 5's) and different colors.

if the formula brakes are not as powerful as the elixirs they have to be pretty terrible. i picked up the 2013 that was in question and im having nothing but brake problems with the elixirs. ive had it back to the shop, they bled them and told me im just being too hard on the brakes. i know these things are hit and miss, and now the shop has pretty much washed their hands of the problems.

so im looking at a set of hayes stroker aces for it. does anyone know if ill need to get adapters for them? i havent been able to find any clear info. im also needing to do something with the shifter clamps as it has the matchmakers on it, what clamps do i need to track down.

Hey guys has anyone had to replace their cassette on a 2013 stumpy? Mine has started slipping in one gear, didn't think it should wear that quick! If you have, any recommendations for a new one? Stuck with a 11-36?

I would also replace the chain, because both can wear together and start slipping in a short amount of time depending on how much you ride. The XT cassette is a really nice one and well worth the money, but if you're sticking with Sram there are some good options with matching chains. The hollow pin chains are nice.

Originally a 2012 Comp non-Evo model, now with the Evo link. Only stock parts are the headset, bottom bracket, crank arms, and saddle. Just finished the drivetrain swap and spent a couple hours cleaning it and touching up the paint chips and scratches. Until the next ride it gets to hang out in more comfortable conditions than usual.

I have a 2013 Stumpy evo expert 26 frame and I was wondering what type of chainguide to run. I don't have a front mech so I wanted to mount there. I ordered etype and it doesn't seem to fit.

It's not trolling since you're full of it. Mine is at least 3 lbs heavier with lighter wheels, a lighter crank and a dropper. Everything else is similar.
Something tells me yours ain't that light. That or mine is lighter than I thought.

Oh, and the carbon may help. That and the quality of your photos probably makes yours lighter than mine.

While 24.5 pounds seems low I'm sure it's entirely possible. Last I weighed my stumpy it came in near abouts 30 lbs +/- .5. This is with a dropper post, front derailleur, left shifter, associated cables, 650b wheels and tires, a tube attached to the top tube, a pump mounted to the down tube, and heavier pedals.

I'm stunned. I stand corrected. Thanks for posting the pic.
