Hello.

I was wondering if anyone here had experience with either SE or Haro.

Im looking at getting either a 24" Haro 124 or a SE Primetime 26"

Both in the £300 price, but I want to know which would be the best bang for my buck in terms of quality. I'll be using it for general use, rather than extreme stuff.

Thanks,
Joe

Well . . . you're comparing a 24" BMX to a 26" BMX (obviously). There will be a significant difference in feel between these two bikes. The 26" BMX will be better for sitting down and pedaling, longer rides, maybe some not-super-rugged mtb trails....

The geometry of the Haro 124 is based around bmx racing; however, the build (steel, 990 brakes, etc) is based around DJ/park/street use--not a particularly good combination in my opinion. Street/park-specific 24"s have different geo (tend to have shorter back end, a little longer front end, and maybe a bottom bracket that is a little (or a lot) higher than axle level. Basically like a Sunday Model C, We The People Atlas, or Liquid Feedback.)

The SE Primetime 26" is all chromoly.

The Haro 124 is not. (Hi-tensile is a lower quality type of steel. Not terrible, actually still probably pretty strong with a bike of this level, but still is not quite as expensive as an all-chromo frame and fork.)

The SE Primetime, to me, is a more interesting bike. It has progressive geo for 26" BMX, and seems to be inspired by other bikes like the Volume Sledgehammer, Volume Hessian http://volumebikes.com/bikes/hessian-26/, new school Fixed Gear Freestyle (FGFS) bikes, etc. Short back end, longer front, etc. I wouldn't necessarily pick it for dirt jumping, but it could be a cool street bike.
