I am looking for a fork for my santa cruz 5010. i am 210 lbs and this bike will be used to go up and down, mostly trail riding. id like to keep the cost under 750 and somewhere in or around 140mm of travel i have been considering the revelation, pike (shortened), xf sweep, and fox ctd 34. am i missing anything and what would best suit me with out over shooting my needs. if i can get the fork around $500 then i would be pretty happy with that!
I got a Revelation 140mm brand new take-off for $300.00. It's a smooth, predictable, and fairly stiff fork that blows away my Fox 32 CTD. However, I do notice it flex (not as much as my Fox) and I weigh 175. At 210 I would shoot for a Pike. It would be very difficult to find one for $500.00. My suggestion is, save up some coin and go for the Pike. You won't regret it in the long run.
