your only limitation is how much cash you want to spend... I personally run a Hope2 Pro evo front hub, its great. I'd recommend it. Other notable brands are DT Swiss, Chris King, DMR, NS, Atomlab and Nukeproof. Hope that list is some help.

Pretty much a front hub is a front hub. That being said, the profile hubs are pretty bling.

+1 for profile. I run the elite mtb brakeless front hub. Its great. Cones are also swappable if you ever need to change forks

I had a buddy blow out his profile rear hub after about a year of riding, I've steered clear of them since.

Really? I had zero problems with mine, no maintenance and 2 years of muddy Washington riding.

if you can afford it, go profile, if not, the NS brakeless hub is significantly cheaper on CRC.

You can repair basically the whole rear elite hub piece by piece. What did he break on it?

Just the bearing inside, it was an easy repair.

So why was it such a big deal?

it isn't, I just expect something like that to last longer without needing maintenance, and was therefore unimpressed.

Most people go years without servicing them. Your friend probably just got an unlucky set of weak bearings or he thrashed those bearings.
