I'm looking to get my first dirt jumper. I'm in college right now and on a budget, so I'm scanning craigslist for a good bike under $600. I saw a 2010 specialized P2 pop up on craigslist for $550. It has been converted to a SS. If I go for it, I plan to make every effort to talk him down to $500. Does that sound like a good deal if everything is clean? From what I've read specialized P bikes are really nice.

So far, I plan to look for excess wear around the gears and cranks, fork seals, and tube scratches, brake pads and wheel trueness. Is there anything else I should be looking for specifically to check that it is in good condition?

I appreciate any advice and thanks in advance!

It's an okay price, but not a bargain if anything major needs replacing. I think I've seen them at 450/500 before on craigslist. A few times even 400.

I can't remember exactly, but I think back in 2010, they were around 900 new. And half of retail is common/customary for used bikes. And 4 years at that....

Just found this as well, any idea what a good price would be to talk this down to if its a good bike?

$600-ish is probably a more reasonable but fair price.

Also, if you're tall, I would suggest not getting a Small frame.

Im riding a 2010 p1 and they are great solid bikes! Would definitely recommend the p-series!
