So i bought a PStreet 1 and I'm debating on getting a fixed gear or not. I go up to my local mountain and ride dh with it about once a year and its nice to have gears then and when I ride local mtb trails. But when I'm dirt jumping I tend to bend the derailer or the chain will come off almost constantly. So I was just wondering what is your opinions on this?

One reason the chain may come off a lot is that the P.Street doesn't have a chain guide. Their dirt jump specific bikes are all single speed (although in previous years, they had some geared versions).

See the plastic roller things on the top and bottom of the chain, around the sprocket? That's what your bike doesn't have.... but you could get one.

If you want to go singlespeed, then there are various tutorials out there about "converting to singlespeed." (That's what it's called.... "fixed" means something else: fixed means it's a "locked" style hub where the cranks are always turning and you can't coast at all....like a unicycle).

I started fixed as well, but after some tournament play I very quickly went freewheel. My game is about 300% better now. More time to think about ballhandling rather than your pedal stroke. I rode 160 cranks so I never had any worries about pedal strikes. I've only seen a handful of fixed players that really killed it.
