Which Specialized bike would be more suitable?

Hi!
I'm a beginner at cycling and i'm looking for a great city bike to use during the winter. I live in Iceland so the weather can be harsh and the roads are filled with sand and salt during the winter months so I was wondering which bike would be better for me?

This one:

I want a bike that will last me a long time but I also want something that is comfortable, looks nice and is easy to ride.

The Vita is definitely a faster bike with better brakes, but the step-through looks more upright and comfort-related. Trade-off, but the step through looks more reliable and versatile to me as a city bike.
