Hey guys, Eric here.

Just wanted to say whats up, introduce myself & my bike.

My names Eric, i'm from Eastern Canada. I am 19 years old.
I have been biking for about, i'd say an easy 3 months now, i was long boarding before.

This is my first bike, it is a Kona Shred 2009.
When i got it, it was a lost cause.
Rims were shot, the guy who had it before me got hit or something.
The derailleur was bent from outside in, wasn't ride able. I was gonna try to fix it and pawn it off, but then i got the crazy idea to start biking.

So, i bought some basic parts. Started with a cheap single gear conversion kit, from Amazon.
I was installing this, then when i was done installing the gears, the chain was too tight for a tensioner.
People around told me that i couldn't run the bike without a tensioner, but yet i did it anyway, proved them wrong.
To this day, i haven't had any problems with the chain related.

I moved to the city a week ago, found some cool friends i could relate to when it comes to bikes.
My crank is squeaking a bit, i asked them about it & they said it was normal.
Anyway, saved a few bucks on that for now.

I bought some new grips and plugs for it, cheap Norco grips and ODI plugs.
Got a new rim in the back, saving up for the next one. It is a Sun Rim Single Track.
Removed some unwanted weight such as front disc, shifter..

I found a Specialize for cheap money in the town i live, debating on buying it for the frame.
I am gonna repaint everything during the winter season.

I know there is gonna people on here saying it's a crap bike, blah blah. But don't waste your time.

Will post pics.

Nice Kona resurrection. Crank squeak is irritating though.

I moved to a City too, and there is a nice skate park a few blocks away. I plan to get my feet wet on a DJ bike. Been a MTBer for years and am pretty good on the technicals. I expect to move street/park pretty easily, at least good enough I don't trash my bike.

Thanks man! Yeah, squeaking is irritating, but usually i got headphones on.

We got a small skate park in the little park here, i'ma take picture later.

if you put grease inside the crank arm where the spindle goes itll make the squeaking go away, unless its the pedals, then buy new ones...all the used bikes ive ever bought did that, i hate it...5 minutes to grease, its been months and its quiet as can be
