Sorry if this is very vague, I'm new to this kind of stuff, I have a 24 seven slacker dirt jump bike; here if you want to see it https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=24seven+slacker&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#facrc=_&imgrc=Dfq0MTZtWM3WaM%253A%3Bundefined%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.moredirt.com%252Fbikes%252F24294.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.moredirt.com%252Fratemyride%252Fbike_profile.php%253Fid%253D24294%3B593%3B445
How would I go about changing the handle bars? What would I need to measure etc, any help would be appreciated, thank you

Well firstly when you buy bars it needs to be the right fit for your stem, just measure the diameter it will either be 31.8mm or 25.4mm.

Next is you want to choose the rise in your bars, downhill bike tend to go for flater style of bars and dirtjumpers tend to go around the 2" to 4" mark, they can go higher it all depends on how you ride and what feels most comfortable.

The last thing is the width, with the width of the bars downhill riders tends to use a wider bar for control but for dirtjumping they tend to use a slightly shorter bar about the width of your shoulders. If your not sure you can always get them wider and cut them down if desperate.

If it's all original it might be 22.2mm bars. I have a 2007 24seven Slacker myself, and it uses 22.2mm handlebars. Lots of steel bars available in 22.2mm clamp size.

Yep, if the handlebars look like these, they're almost certainly 22.2 (the BMX size).

Are you wanting the bars to be lower? Those i would guess are about 4" rise (measured from center-of-tube at clamp area up to center-of-tube at grip area). Bars with a cross-bar are generally considered to be BMX bars.

If you got something like NS District bars, they would be a little lower and without a crossbar.

Haven't tried them, but Renthal Jumpbar seems nice. 399 grams is quite light for a 22.2 bar (if not the lightest?) A lot more lightweight options if you'd also get a 25.4 mm clamp stem though.

26"-29" wide bars are pretty normal these days in BMX. i would guess you can still hacksaw off an inch to an inch-and-a-half on either side and still have room for grips and a lever. but if you want some 24"-25" wide bars, I'm sure you can find them too.
