Hi guys,

I am thinking of getting a Specialized Status II after a lot of people recommending it. It looks like a good starter freeride/downhill bike. I am still a beginner and most of my riding is in the local trails right now on a 2010 Diamondback Recoil comp. Once or twice I have taken it to a bike park but it took a beating. I am curious to know do people recommend getting a Status II for local riding or is it too heavy to go uphill?

if you do a lot of pedaling it would be rough but in a bike park it is a good bike

I own a Status 1 that's been upgraded past the status 2's spec, it does not pedal up hills, a small incline can be extremely difficult.

Most AM bikes or the Enduro can handle most bike parks fine.
