10spd indexed bar end shifter with a 7spd derail/casette. Is this possible?

Looking at these components and wondering if they will work together. Tell me why this will fail Frown Or tell me what I need to do to make it work and you shall have my axe in battle.

EDIT: What if I converted the TT500 shifter to friction using 3d printed internals!? LIKE THIS http://nothinglabs.blogspot.com/2014/10/3d-printed-sram-tt500-friction-mod.html

Alright go ahead, someone tell me why this won't work and shit on my hopes and dreams...

the only cross-platform that works is sram 9sp shifter and shimano 10sp mech. why don't you just buy 9 or 10 psd transmission set (mech, shifter, chain and cassette)? maybe that will be a bit more expensive, but you will enjoy your shifting instead of having regular problems with system, made of $hit and sticks.

Don't need 10 gears (weight, minimal shifting with the riding I'm doing)
