Has anyone fallen flat on their back while wearing a neck brace? Doesn't that kind of a fall shove the neck brace into the back of your neck? Especially with the braces that have that long protruding plastic flap in the back as shown:
I was testing out an Atlas neck brace at a store and i tried lying flat on my back . You can already feel the hard plastic applying pressure to your neck. The flap on the atlas brace back area seems shorter than usual too.
And what if you fell into a sliding position. Wouldn't that drag the neck brace towards the top of your head or cantilever it into your jaw (if sliding the other way?)
Wouldn't it make more sense to make the back area more like the humps on those race suits:
Seems like that would at least prevent the dragging issue.
I noticed this neck brace from europe when researching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1MjfxqXL_0
Anyone tried this. Looks like it's made of a foam like material instead of hard plastic. Maybe this might also help dampen the kind of thing I'm worried about??
Seems like you can solve a lot of this issue by making a brace like the Omega and have the back area opened up as well. Almost like the back of the Atlas brace is opened, but making the opening cushioned and tapered.
im just following this because im interested in buying a neck brace.. and im undecided so far. are you saying the omega and atlas might be better than the Leatt?
Well, I'm sayin that even with the Atlas (which has a short back section) you can probably still feel it jabbing into the back of your neck if you fall onto your upper back area.
I was thinkin that since i sometimes wear a backpack, if the backpack is thicker than that back section of the neck brace, it could absorb the force that would've otherwise be transferred to the neck brace. I should take my backpack to a shop and try this out.
