What are my fellow dirt jumpers and park riders using for knee pads/guards? Any other forums I found were so outdated I can't purchase what they recommended. Im currently searching for something that won't restrict pedaling or motion that I could wear under jeans.

There are definitely some slim pads out there. (I have some Fox ones). It's kind of a tradeoff between protection-level versus comfort or ease of wearing with jeans. If it's something you'll wear all the time, then that's better in the long run than more protective pads you wear only occasionally.

It kinda depends how slim your jeans are and/or if they have stretch material in the fabric. Several versions of the Levi's 511 slim (like the "Commuter") have some stretch in them. So they can work well with slim pads like Shadow Conspiracy, etc.

it might sound funny, but I use cheap 10$ volleyball knee pads from target with jeans.. they have saved my knees many times.

I wear thick knee/shin guards underneath underneath somewhat wider jeans. I pick the jeans to fit my padding. Wide enough so it will fit, but tight enough to help hold the padding in place and have no fabric getting caught by the chain. Comfortable, protective and looks good enough, thick padding turns a bit wider jeans into skinnies effectively :-)

It's funny because whenever I do Downhill trips, none of those guys wear jeans and they look at you like a newb when you do.

After a few trips, I started to get it though. It rains pretty regularly in the mountains (seems like every afternoon at Winter Park, CO) and it's not fun to ride in wet jeans.

This pic was from the top of the mountain during opening week at Angel Fire NM last year.

That makes sense, wet jeans are heavy.
Thanks for the suggestions, I've always kinda shied away from shin guards personally.
