I have been designing some 3D bike parts. Just small things like top caps and such but I was wondering whether 3D printing these in metal would make them strong enough to run and just whether this is overall possible.

I seriously doubt they would be strong enough for riding. 3D printing is advancing quickly though, I'd certainly expect to see the technology in the next 5-10 years. We already have printable guns even things like printable genomes are only a few years away.
