Just wondering, have a triple xt chainring on my bike at the minute, badly needs an upgrade(completely worn outer ring), looking to sort it out tempted to go for a double. Only thing is most of my riding is on the centre cog which is a 32. If I go for a double all I see on Line is 38 24, 38 26 or 40 28. Should I stick to the triple even though I seldom use the outer ring, or take the plunge and try out the double?

Or you could give a 1 x system a try, especially as you mention you spend most of your time in the middle ring anyway. if not, then a double would be fine for most riding.

+1 for 1x system.
Easier to work out, cleaner looking especially if you are using remote post and it won't build a dirt around FD. Well, it does in my place, the dirt just love to build up around my FD.

Thinking of that but does that mean changing from 10 on the back to 11, which means new derailer new cassette and chain. Already have a bucket load of money gone into getting this bike fairly right.

Going 1x on the front doesn't require any change to the rear setup. Most people running a 1x setup are running 10 speed in the back cuz the 1x11 stuff is still so damn expensive. Only thing would be a simple chain guide if you don't have a clutch rear derailleur.

I'd definitely worth going 1x. It saves weight and makes the bike easier to clean.

Why? Because SRAM says so?
I went to 1 x 10 and I'm by no means either very fit or young any more and I have no issues getting up most hills. I have a 32 ring up front and the biggest ring on the cassette is a 36. If you have very steep hills you could just go to a 30 tooth ring up front.

Fair play guys, something to think about anyway
