Hey guys just took my front wheel of My dmr and it's been over tightened and the cone has dug into the inside of the right fork leg really deep when You look at the forks one is alot thinner due to the cone gauging out the metal is it still safe to ride on?
I haven't seen your wheel, but it would be the "lock nut" that is digging into the inside of the dropout. The cone nut is inside that.
I would suggest trying some large washers on the inside of your dropout (large so that they cover beyond all of that smushed area). Or if there's not enough room for that, try replacing the cone locking nuts with some much larger ones that will not sink into the groove....

OK mate ace thanks so much for the advice would it be safe to ride as I don't fancy it snapping
I'm not gonna say it's safe. That's your decision!!
But what I was saying was that if you get a large washer for the inside of the dropout, then it's pressing against the whole dropout. Unless there's a crack somewhere else, the fact that the inner part got chewed up wouldn't matter as much. But, whatever, it's your bike.
That was not just over tightened but that was not even the right stuff used. You always need a washer under the nut, though some nuts have built in washers and it's up to you if you want to trust that. I will run washers under those nuts as well, the more you can spread the load the better, and that's why. Sucks man, other than larger washers I don't see a fix. I doubt it would break if it's treated well but.......
dreaded previous owner. They get you every time. The last new bike I bought I went into the bike shop and said I want that one. Guy says cool, want to take it for a spin? We can make sure everything is tight and adjust it for you. I said nope. I'll take it just like that. He gets nervous and said he wasn't sure if everything was tight or adjusted properly. I said I drove over an hour to get here I'm not coming back for adjustments, besides I'm not running those wheels or bar or stem. The guy was looking at me like I had three heads but he sold me the bike. I don't remember the last time some one worked on my bike, I have trust issues.
