International shipping - bike frames. What's your experience?

Hey all, not really a beginner, but I can't think of a more suitable destination for this post.

I'm in the UK and I have wanted, nearly forever a Specialized SX long.

They're super rare here and fairly common in the U.S. and Canada.

It would be great to understand what shipping a bike from the North American continent looks like.

Both from the senders experience and those that have received imports from outside the EU in to the UK.

What sort of postage cost?

What sort of delivery time?

Other things to consider for both parties?

It's about as clear as mud in terms of the import duties etc.

And I find myself trying to twist the arm of the seller to ship it to me.
