So Im 30 and I just started riding again after a 6 year hiatus. I always rode BMX before so I purchased a 2016 Sunday Soundwave BMX bike to the tune of a grand. I live in Myrtle Beach SC. and the only skate parks here are pretty ratty and, well just not fun. However right down the road from my house is the Horry County Bike/Run Park which is seven and a half miles of really nice mountain bike trails and a few jumps. So I took my new bike over there and rode the entire trail one day and immediately fell in love. But at the end of a seven and a half mile ride on a BMX bike my back was pretty sore. So I have decided to build a crossover bike that uses most of the parts off of my bmx bike but has 24 inch wheels and suspension on the front end. I love the looks of the NS capital 24 frame and it seems to be the best of both MTB and BMX worlds. So I already have 24" Sun Rhynolite xl rims and spokes coming to lace up to my Odyssey Quartet hubs and a 9mm/qr RockShox fork. Also got the Odyssey Aitken plyte tires and a Spanish bb to use on my Thunderbolt cranks. Now all I need is the Cap frame and Division bars! Anyone know a place here stateside that I could order those from? I was planning on ordering it from lamcycles.com which I may still do. Can't wait to get all my parts in and get this bike together so I can post up some pictures but more importantly get back out on the trails. Nice to meet everybody and look forward to everyone's feedback.
I needed them BMX feels too... Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/sublimewind/Bike%20Pics/20150702_210249.jpg
I currently have two bikes: NS Capital 24 which is set up for street riding when I'm wanting to do more technical stuff. It has a free coaster and pegs. I really didn't put any time into being worried about weight on this bike and after replacing these DMR tan walls with some DMR transition tyres (wanted something with a thick sidewall for grinds) it really is a hefty bike.
I have just set up my 26" Beddo Neat which i intended to ride trails on.. even though its bigger , its so much nicer and easier to ride than my capital. I cared a little more about weight on this bike and honestly, probably the nicest bike I've ever owned or ridden.
They are pretty close but there is definitely an advantage to front sus on single track stuff. I don't ride that stuff so I have not ridden the blue one once this year and only rode it maybe 2 months last year.
so the 28t sprocket had to be spaced way out to clear the frame and the chain alignment is really bad. anyone know if 22t sprockets can be run on the thunderbolt standard drive cranks? if not will a 23t clear enough to get the chain straight? thanks for the imput guys!
