my friend is running the knards, tubeless, mounted on hugo52s. ive got the chronicles, also tubeless, on hugo52s.
the side knobs on the chronicles appear taller than the knards, so i'd assume they'd provide a tad more grip (depending on your pressure setup). however, i have not ridden the knards, so i cannot say for sure. also, the chronicle's tread appears to have a directional bias, so running the rear one backwards may change its ride characteristics. i've also not bother to test this yet.
neither of us have had issues with the tubeless setup, despite his knards not being technically "tubeless ready".
and finally, the chronicles have terrible sidewall print which i'm not a huge fan of.
unless you have a plus specific frame and fork, you're unlikely to fit 29x3.o tires. remember that the width isn't the only clearance issue you might run into, but also the effective outer radius/diameter of your wheels.
beyond that, i don't have any strong recommendation for a wide tire with low knobs. though i believe that conti's king series mount up very wide--often wider than labelled. however, there are width limitations with each model, so you may or may not be able to find a suitable tread pattern at your desired width.
i've also no ride experience with these tires. you'll have to do more research into conti.
