Looking at building a bike up as a hobbie for a couple weeks but no idea on frames ect ... I have a old skool Saracen xile frame knocking about that I would also like to do up as a mess around so any help would be nice as not much knowledge on what parts to use ... Some of the most popular/respected DJ frames out there are made by:
For bb sizes, it depends on the frame you pick. In general, most mtb's are going to be Euro bb, 73mm wide shell. However, some DJ frames, they know their market has some crossover with bmx, so they use a 68mm wide Mid bottom bracket.

Cheers bro ... What do you think about the ns metropolis 2 & 3?
They're excellent bikes. But, if you can get the Metropolis 2 with the Manitou Circus fork, that would be better than the Metropolis 3 with the RST fork.

Is there anything you would change or upgrade with (met 2)?

Not really. Everything on it should be durable.
However, 25/10 gearing (65 gear inches) is somewhat stout gearing for a stock bike. They should have done 25/11 (59 gear inches) or 23/10 (59.8 ).
I'm guessing they did that just because of parts availability--25t sprockets are very common in bmx, as are 9t and 10t drivers. But, 11t drivers are no longer common in bmx.
