I'm also looking for a steel frame, and was hellbent on the Cody frame (tapered headtube)
But that Deity Cryptkeeper V3 really caught my attention Big Grin
Do you have any experience with them? Which one would you recommend?

Deity would be perfect as an all rounder, we can't get them here

Honestly they're all pretty equal. Tapered headtubes are said to be longer lasting than straight headtubes but the difference may be trivial. The Cody is slightly lighter than the Cryptkeeper. When it comes down do it, they're all well-built from reputable brands. In my opinion, your choice should come down to the size and geometry they're offered in. You can research each of them and see what you believe would be your preference based on your size/height and riding style you want to be doing most. For example, for me I'm 6'3", like to ride a lot of dirt and street, and also appreciate products made in the USA (or anywhere not China or Taiwan really). The Standard is perfect for me because it's offered in a 23" toptube, the geometry is suitable for both dirt and street, it's made in the US, and also happens to be one of the lightest frames on the market at 4.7lbs.

Heres a link to the Google doc that I compiled a while ago when deciding on a frame:

Its a one man army, hand built in Ann Arbor Michigan, usually to order..

May I chuck some idea into the mix, a small Surly Instigator with phat ass rims and tyres.

Hi could you do me a favor and turn the bars 180deg and measure the minimum distance from pedal to tyre, with cranks level...just want to check before I order a 23"...thanks in advance

Smallest distance I could possibly get between the tire and the pedals was 4.75 inches. I've never had my toes come into any sort of close contact with the tire.
