Hey, my buddy gave away a nice Giant Reign X1 large frame from a clean up. It doesn't have anything on it. I'm a bike guy but this frame confused the hell out of me. I tried to search over Giant website for spec but they emptied it. I am trying to build this for my brother and stripping parts from my Specialized Camber Comp (upgraded to 1x11)

1. What kind of rear suspension am I supposed to get? Size?
2. Is this do-able with 3x9, isn't front derailleur supposed to be clamp style? Front derailleur that came on Camber Comp is screw on.

Thank you for your time!

The 08 x1 came with a 7.875x2.25 shock. X1 was coil, x0 was air.

Yes, you can run 3x9 and the front derailleur is clamp on.

As Nolan said.

I just wanna add a little about the shock.
Some shock won't fit with this bike due to small room of the shock compartment.

Fox dhx 5 coil and air will fit.

I tried putting ccdb inline, ccdb, and vivid. They won't fit.

Please make sure before you buy a new shock.

Fyi, its one of the good bike even for today AM bike.

I can also add that monarchs don't fit unless they are upside down....and why bother with a front derialluer. Just do a single front ring, hell I run my 9 speed with a single ring set up.
