I got a long cage mech as part of a bundle of parts and am wondering about using it as part of a 1x11 (11-42) setup.

I know that i only need a medium cage for this but, aside from being a few grams heavier, giving a few mm less ground clearance and possible bouncing round a bit more (i'm guessing the clutch will essentially sort this out) are there any downsides to this? Would shifting performance be affected?

It will work, just not as effective as the medium Cage would be
