I recently got a used 2007 Specialized FSR XC Comp and was wondering if anyone can tell me what length of stem would have been fitted to this bike when new? Frame size is large.

It currently has a 120mm stem (6deg rise) fitted and to be honest it doesn't feel too wrong even though I'm a bit on the shorter size for a large frame size. Maybe I should drop down something steep and see if I go over the bars? Wink

Had a look on Specialized's website but it just says "Aluminum, 7 degree rise, OS 31.8, 4 bolt, black". The length is not listed:

Got a 60mm stem on order but would still like to know what it had originally. Thanks for any advice. Smile

The L/XL was a 105 length with 7degree rise for that model/year.

Geo was way different back then than it is now. If you one the smaller side of the Large frame shorter than 120 is a good call.

Thanks very much for your reply! Smile

Please can I ask what you used for the source of this info? Book

Guess I'm just trying to figure out how sure you are of the 105mm length because that's pretty huge by modern standards. I guess it does explain why the bike doesn't feel totally odd with the 120mm stem. I wonder if I should have ordered a 80mm or 90mm replacement rather than a 60mm. Very confused

100% sure. I work as Speci and checked the spec.

Try the 60 it'll be worth a shot.

Awesome!

Oddly enough I was on the website again and found the stem dimensions for these 2 models of the FSR XC Comp:

https://www.specialized.com/us/en/fsrxccomp/22149
https://www.specialized.com/us/en/fsrxccomp/22573

Think the first one is the 2008 model, not sure about the other.

Anyway, the stem sizes for these match what you quoted above, so thanks again! Smile
