Any solution for using crank boots with Race Face Atlas?

Bought the Race Face Atlas pedals, but they don't fit any crank boots due to the large spindle size. I like the pedals, but don't want to end up with good pedals on broken cranks...
Anyone solved this?

Given that the crank boots are rubber and cheap, why not just cut them until everything fits?
