Well, it was just what I did when I lived overseas. I had a bunch of cheapo fakes and they wouldn't last long at all. It drove me nuts. I would get like a couple of months and the strap would begin the patina, and turn my wrist green. So I made the choice to buy good ones, from the back hidden rooms in the shops.
It was literally like going into a movie, with fake walls, two way mirrors, secret knock. It was like going on an adventure every time I would go to buy a watch.
I went into a watch store in some super high-end shopping mall in Florida. I went up to the counter and I saw a watch that I liked and asked to try it on, and the guy just handed me the watch with no suspicion whatsoever. It was a $38,000 watch. But it was super gaudy.
I love my watch (FOSSIL Blue), just over 3 years I have had it for, and not a single problem. Stylish, clear, and tough. I do everything with this watch.

This is identical to my watch, but for some reason I don't have a shot of mine. Anyways, it's a Tissot PR50 Chronograph, made in Geneva. Just ignore that little watermark by the bottom left of the dial. Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://www.watchesonnet.com/images/images_127/large/T34.1.488.42.jpg
