nobody rides on the west coast??? marble mountain is pretty sick and there's a lot of riding to be done in general in the corner brook area...talk to the boys at TNT
I haven't heard anything about Marble getting a bike park. A bike park at Marble would be awesome but there just isn't enough local population out there to sustain it.
There are lots of awesome trails around St. John's if you're into pedaling. Subnet (White Hills), Richmond Hill, Shea Heights-Fort A, Torbay-Flatrock. These trails are probably best suited to a 6"x6" slackish AM (for lack of a better word) bike. There's been quite a lot of trail development at Richmond and Subnet in the past few years. Richmond is relentless rocky, rooty tech. Subnet is smoother but with some good tech as well.
The DH trails at White Hills and Topsail Hill are also awesome!
Few pics of the RH trails (apologies for gratuitous bike porn)
Those trails look awesome! What is the general attitude of the people and authorities in Newfoundland towards mountain biking and trail building? What about biking on hiking trails? Last time I did a road trip to Newfoundland 3 years ago with my xc mountain bike on board I had a hard time finding any trails. Didn't seem to be any "trail centers" to be found most places I went. I never had a chance to spend much time around the avalon peninsula where it sounds like most of the trails are. I took a drive up the viking trail on my trip. Talk about epic coastline and mountains! I could see gros morne being an amazing place for riding if there were bike trails around there. I did ride some of the rail trail through the clarenville area where I stayed with family but mostly just encountered quads riding out there. Also went riding with a friend up and down bear mountain in clarenville. Had to walk most of it cause of stairs and other obstacles(its really a hiking trail) but was fun, lots of rocks and some rooty sections in the woods. As far as I can tell there seems to be alot of "crown land" or wilderness land in Newfoundland which seems to be prime conditions for epic mountain bike trails. Again, not sure if a person could just go out and ride anywhere or make some trails in the middle of the woods somewhere. Sorry for rambling on, just a snowy day in edmonton stuck inside dreaming of riding some epic trails.

hey man! im from hillview, right next to clarenville and if you ever in the area again and want someone to ride dh/freeride type trails with then hit me up. i have my own work in progress right next to my house and there is a trail in the works near white hills that my boss and i are going to spruce up now that the snow is gone. curious as to what part of bare mountain you were riding, i can get top to bottom on a couple ways without having to get off the bike. however there are couple trails that are all stairs and terrible for bikes. also ive hiked white hills a few times and thats pretty fun and fast. also the wellness trail circuit around, although its a hiking trail is pretty fun if your have more of an xc or all-mountain background.

Hey buddy, will do. Not sure when i'll be out there again, i've since been dedicating all my time off to BC bike trips. :: Got a taste of squamish, north vancouver, whistler last summer, i am officially hooked on all mountain riding, got myself an all mountain trail bike now, still got my xc bike so yeah i started out xc riding and am slowly getting into more hardcore stuff, big travel bikes, who knows, maybe try some jumps eventually, skinnys and ladder bridges still scare the heck outta me.
Yeah man all-mountain is where it's at!! Ideal bike type around here for sure, but I still love freeride and dh. Whistler and Squamish will hook anyone in don't blame you there. I've been wanting to go back ever since I left there!
