I was looking a those frames for a little bit, all i know is on the early 2007 frames they were having a bottom out problem. So they had people send them back to azonic and all Azonic did was put a bumper on the shock making it have a little less travel. But yea it is a tiwanese bike i think a company called Poison over in Europe sells the same frame with different stickers.
if its going cheap then yeah, why not!! (make sure you keep your receipt for warranty)
doesnt mean its a bad bike. If you look at any descent bike manufacturer that doesnt produce there bikes in the US or canada, 9 out of 10 times they are made in taiwan. Same goes for components to. Look at where your Marzocchi or rock shox fork is made. Look at where Specialized is made......taiwan. What is this bike a clone of anyway? Also, 2008 B52's do not have the bottom out issue and no they didnt put a larger bumper on the shock. The seat tube has been reworked. Tire hasnt even come close to touching mine.
it doesn't mean its a good bike either - the 2 problems with rebadged clones are:
1. you are basically paying more for the azonic "name" in this case, if you shop around you can often get the same frame from another "brand" for less $$
2. its been designed by someone (who???) in Taiwan who doesn't ride or know what riders really need...its made to hit a low production pricepoint and not designed with the specific knowledge, development, engineering and year-on-year evolution of frames that are made specifically for respected brands like Specialized, Banshee, Giant, Jamis, etc.
its got nothing to do with the frame being made in Taiwan, and everything to do with it being made as cheaply as possible without the expensive engineering, manufacturing processes and development that the quality brand, Taiwanese-made frames have....
Azonic is known for rebadging generic production goods, and I have seen way too many of their frames snap over many years to ever trust that brand....
i thought the same thing to. Dont know if this is actually true. My 888 ATA WC said made in taiwan on the box, but there was no sticker of origin on the actual fork. Maybe they just use a generic box?
