Nathan, I recently got shown some really good trails not far from here (15-20mins) and a bit more of a drive and you could be at Kersbrook and Devils Gully. Not exactly Whistler but still fun and quite techie. Give us a yell when you get here and I will try to organize a ride.

I'm moving from NZ to Brisbane early next year, I've no idea about the riding or anything to do over there, can someone give me a shout as to what the riding is like? I've got a 160mm travel 1x9 all mountain bike at the moment, would it be fine for the riding there?

And on topic, I was born in Manly, but moved to NZ quite a few years back

mtbiking biking its heavily influenced by older XC guys there unless you pony up to bike shops with riding clubs and maybe one day they invite you along to some private DH trails. so a 1x10 160mm might be that bit too much bike to lug around. i had same travel but 2x + bash.

Castle Hill / blackstone is a 30-40min drive out towards Ipswich and is my fav, it will make the most of your 160. Daisy Hill and Gap Creek have a some nice mtb specific trails, but apart from 2 or so runs a HT is all you really need to have fun. Nerang National Park down the gold coast has some more FR type trails and a mix of fire road and single track loops. i think you'd doing well with just a single ring up front though.

Cheers man, I'll definitely have to take a look into the tracks, yeah I might consider moving to something around 120mm travel if that's the case though.
